ROLE:
Trustee, 2016-2021

Dance and movement is something I have always been particularly passionate about. Especially creating more inclusive and accessible spaces and opportunities for both professional and amateur dancers. And by amateur I mean everyone - “if you have a body, you are a dancer”. This is precisely the work that we did at East London Dance (ELD).

I served on the board of ELD for over 5 years and what a rewarding journey it was. It was a pivotal time for the organisation.

We were fortunate enough to unlock some major capital funding to renovate a beautiful building on Fish Island, which we shared with the great music non-profit UD. We produced one of London’s most ambitious outdoor dance performances with Hofesh Shechter Company at the Tower of London. And more importantly, we consistently delivered a strong program of classes, events, mentoring and education for all types of dancers and dance professionals.

My final support to the organisation was helping lead them through a rebrand, taking a decades old brand identity and refreshing it for the new ambition and new home of ELD today. This is where we landed:
