The Artists Way — Nikhil Shah Dot Me

In early 2020 I embarked on doing The Artist’s Way — a book and 12 week creative program by Julia Cameron. I was prompted by some dear friends Antonia, Nathaniel, Steve and Ben.

When Lockdown 2020 hit, I sent out a few messages to gather a small group; the timing clearly resonated and it snowballed.

We ended up with a community of 70 people going through the program together. Holding space for each other every Sunday was a vital part of getting through lockdown for so many of us. And the community continues to live on as a supportive creative tribe!

We run sporadic events and workshops together — both IRL and online. Drawing, dancing, writing, storytelling, listening.

I got so much value from the program, rediscovering the joy of play, and learning to enjoy pursuing creative endeavours for the fun and flow and less for the end result.

And it’s nice to have this community still going in it’s small way, helping nudge all 70 of us to keep our creativity alive.
